The purpose of a hidden surface is the question that underpins this project. Although the experience of the blade seems separate from the origin of the canvas, in reality two moments of creation are united in a single medium: ground and form—essence and matter, a metaphor for body and spirit. The purpose is to reveal that within the hidden and imperceptible lies an endless history of something concrete and finite at first glance.

Spirituality does not exist without the human. The mundane gives body, ground, and meaning to the search for extraordinary experiences, to the expansion of the senses, to the encounter with the intangible, with the divine. The works become a metaphor for duality, for accepting impermanence and recognizing the fleeting nature of our passage through this earth in the face of the infinity of our spirit.
