Landscapes of Thought Project

2021_LGM_AngelicaChavarro-14.jpg

Noise. Noise inside and outside. The thoughts that skip and the information that we constantly receive are bursts of noise in the mind and art a vehement embodiment of these. Works are inexhaustible sources of words, conversation, and questions. The artist Angélica Chavarro belongs to a current of artists whose work, instead of generating noise, creates a space for contemplation, a rest for the viewer that invites them to enter a meditative state of silence and stillness. Chavarro wonders if it is possible to incite the viewer to inhabit their own inner experience by suspending the coming and going of ideas. Through the use of layers of white interlon with embroidered details and a dim light, we enter a space-time suspended both inward and outward in which there is no judgment, no action, no pretense of infinite chatter. Just silence. Where the dialogue with our interior begins.
